Program Information

Instructional (U6/U8) Program

This program will run at Roach Field in Hardwick. There are 2 available options for U6/U8 play. There is a Monday / Wednesday session and a Tuesday / Thursday session. Each session has a limited number of openings so register early to get your preferred nights. Session schedules have not been confirmed but they generally will start sometime after 4:45 and each session will last for about 1-1.25 hours.

QYS hires professional soccer trainers from Challenger Sports to help run this program with the assistance of parent coaches. The focus is on having fun, developing a love of the game, and skill development.

We are asking for parents to sign up and become a coach at this level. This means you will commit to working with your team during practices and games for the entire season. You will complete a CORI with all other QYS coaches and volunteers.

We need at least 4 adult coaches for every session. If you have a player in this age group please sign up to coach. No experience is necessary. You will follow the direction of a professional soccer coach. You will basically be an assistant to our paid professional coach and help implement their program during practice. You will also be a liaison between the players and parents and guide and encourage the team through friendly matches

As a parent, please consider volunteering for these sessions. Players at this age really enjoy it when their parent is a part of the experience and it helps remove any anxiety that some children (particularly U6) may experience with this age group.

Players are assigned to teams. Players will remain with this team throughout the season. The parent coach of the team will make contact with the player’s parents prior to the start of the season.

Proposed Season Dates (larger dependent on weather and field conditions)

a.       Sessions start on April 6th

b.      Sessions end on June 11th

c.       First game is on April 17th or 18th (games every other week, Friday night or Saturday morning TBD based on feedback)

d.      Last game is on June 5th.

e.      Season ending Jamboree is on June 13

Player Developmental (U10 through U19) Travel Programs

Players are drafted to teams and will participate in an 8 game season in the Midland Area Youth Soccer League ( http://maysl.com ) following FIFA rules (http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/lawsofthegame/index.html ). U12 and older teams have a chance to compete in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions or the Gaffney Cup at the end of the season in June.

This is a travel program and is usually split with 4 scheduled home games and 4 away games. Away games are normally scheduled within 45 minutes of QRHS.

Coaches will contact players by early March with a schedule for practices and games. Practices can be 1 or 2 nights during the week. Regularly scheduled games will be on Saturdays for U10-U14 and Sundays for the high school age teams.  The first games are expected to be April 4th and will run through June 7th or June 14th.

Coaches

QYS is dependent on parent-coaches as they are the life blood of any sports program.  With our partnership with Challenger Sports QYS Coaches, players and even parents will have access to online coaching and player resources and videos, live coaching courses and of course on-field instruction and advice from a professional coach. We finally have all the resources to make every coach confident on the field.

Volunteers

QYS is equally dependent on volunteer to help us organize and facilitate these programs for our kids.      Currently other than coaches, we have far to few volunteers to help with registrations, uniform ordering, communications, sponsor-seeking, field maintenance, equipment ordering and maintenance, field lining and so many other tasks.  If you have a few hours per week or even over the course of the season we can help make QYS a more enjoyable experience for all involved.  So please consider helping to form a better QYS.

Sponsors

This year we are looking for sponsors to offset the cost of the professional coach by printing sponsor’s names on shirts for the U6/U8 program.  If you are able to sponsor please contact Kevin at kb.quabbinsoccer@charter.net.
